Henry Janzen
In addition to being Conductor and
Music Director of the Hart House Orchestra at the University of Toronto, Henry Janzen
has conducted ensembles throughout southwestern Ontario and southern Michigan including
the Windsor Symphony, the Dearborn Symphony Festival Orchestra, the Michigan Youth
Symphony Concert Orchestra and the Verdi Opera of Michigan.
Along with his performing career,
Henry has dedicated a great deal of his time to teaching, coaching and adjudicating
and has built up a wealth of experience over the last 30 years. Some of the
chamber and orchestral ensembles he has worked with include the Livonia Chamber
Ensembles, MI; the University of Western Michigan, Kalamazoo, MI; the Metropolitan
Youth Symphony, MI; Windsor Strings, ON; and the London Youth Orchestra, London,
ON. In 2000, he toured the Czech Republic and Austria with the Guelph Youth
Orchestra.
Henry’s students have spent summers
performing with the National Youth Orchestra, while others have successfully gone
on to pursue studies on scholarship at the Juilliard School of Music; the University
of Montreal; the San Francisco Conservatory; Wilfrid Laurier University, and the
Royal Conservatory of Music. |
