Rehearsals/Joining Sunday nights at 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
How to get to the GYMC: From St. George's Square (downtown Guelph) go north on Wyndham Street to the intersection of Wyndham-Eramosa/Woolwich. There is also a cenotaph at this intersection. Turn left onto Woolwich, and immediately turn right on Cardigan Street (it is on a weird angle). Follow Cardigan, past one stop sign. The Guelph Youth Music Centre is on your right- you can't miss it. Note: If you don't have a car and transportation is a problem (as it is often for U of G students), but you want to play in the band, give us a shout. It may be possible for us to arrange a ride for you. We have a number of members who drive past the UofG, and many others that drive from all parts of town. Instrumentation: Being a standard wind band arrangement, our instrumentation usually includes: piccolo, flute, oboe, english horn, bassoon, Eb clarinet, Bb clarinet, alto clarinet, bass clarinet, EEb contra-alto clarinet, BBb contrabass clarinet, soprano sax, alto sax, tenor sax, baritone sax, trumpet, cornet, flugel horn, french horn, trombone, bass trombone, euphonium/baritone, Eb tuba, tuba, string bass, electric bass, mallet percussion, percussion, and tympani. We currently enjoy full instrumentation, however new members are always welcome. Joining the BandAlthough the Guelph Concert Band currently enjoys full instrumentation, we do welcome new members. We do not audition prospective members, however we do ask that those interested in joining the band first attend several rehearsals to assess their ability and comfort level. Even if you have not played for some time, we invite you to join us. A number of our members joined the band after not having played in many years. If you plan to attend a rehearsal, please let us know in advance (if possible) so that we may do our best to make you feel welcome. |
